Harvest Time!

Join us on Saturday September 13th as we come together to celebrate our harvest of 2025! This event is a great opportunity to meet fellow gardeners in the North Shore community and learn about fruit and vegetable harvesting techniques.
This year we are joined by local fruit and vegetable gardeners who will be taking us through their home gardens, and sharing knowledge on topics such as:
- Proper harvesting techniques
- Preparing your garden for Fall and Winter
- Preservation methods for fruits and vegetables

North Arm Farm Tour

Come join us in Pemberton on Saturday July 5 at 2pm for a tour of North Arm Farm!
North Arm Farm is a 60 acre working farm located in Pemberton, B.C. The Farm has seasonal u-pick, a cafe, berries, and lots of farm animals! We plan to leave Vancouver at approximately 12:00pm, travelling in multiple vehicles from the North Shore to Pemberton. If you would like to carpool – or if you have a vehicle and are able to provide rides for others – please let us know.

Community Reforestation Workshop

Help us to grow Vancouver’s urban forest canopy!
Come join us in West Vancouver on Friday May 2 for our annual Community Reforestation Workshop! Our team is once again seeking to plant 100 trees across Metro Vancouver. Please email us at greencityfarmsociety@gmail.com to RSVP and receive your free tree today.
This workshop will feature an informational session led by local botanists, followed by a live tree planting demonstration. Lots of snacks and refreshments will be provided, too!

Maplewood Farm Tour
Saturday September 21, 2024 (2:00 pm – 4:00 pm)
Come join us in North Vancouver on Saturday September 21 at 2pm for a tour of Maplewood Farm!
Home to over 200 domestic animals and birds, Maplewood Farm strives to provide a unique experience, incorporating enjoyment, education and a recollection of the rural heritage of this 5 acre setting.
We plan to meet at the front gates at 2pm. Please shoot us an email if you plan to join. Hope to see you there!

Tree Giveaway 2024
May – July 2024
Our annual Tree Giveaway event is back! Our goal for this year is to plant 100 trees across Metro Vancouver. Please email us at greencityfarmsociety@gmail.com to receive your free tree today, and help us to grow B.C.’s urban forest canopy.
We have three categories of trees to select from. When ordering a tree please inform which category or species you prefer.
a) Fruit bearing trees (Crabapple, Apple, Fig, Pear, etc.)
b) Native, non-fruit bearing trees (Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Bigleaf Maple, Dogwood, etc.)

West Vancouver Community Clean Up Day
Sunday March 10, 2024 (2:00 pm – 4:00 pm)
Come join our team on Sunday March 10th from 2PM – 4PM as we clean up the neighbourhoods of West Vancouver! We are very excited to take this opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to building a green and healthy community.
Our team will meet at the Ambleside Butterfly Garden at 2PM. We will spend an hour collecting litter in Ambleside before travelling to Dundarave, where we will conclude the clean up. We will provide garbage bags, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, trash grabber sticks, as well as an assortment of snacks and beverages. Please email us at info@greencityfarmsociety.com to RSVP!

Cover Cropping and Vegetable Production – Live Webinar

We will be joining FarmFolk CityFolk and the BC Climate Agri-Solutions Fund for a virtual tour of the Forstbauer Family Natural Food Farm. This Live Webinar will provide an in-depth look into beneficial farming practice of cover cropping. Hope to see you all there!

Urban Farm Tour – Loutet Farm

Join us on Saturday May 25 for a super fun tour of Loutet Farm! Loutet Urban Farm is run by the North Shore Neighbourhood House through the Edible Garden Project with the goal of creating a socially, economically and environmentally self-sustaining not-for-profit enterprise.
At the end of the tour we will explore the many awesome vendors of the Loutet Farm Community Market

Workshop – Overwintering Your Garden

Please join us at Gleneagles Community Centre on Saturday September 16 for an in-person workshop! In this workshop we will learn from Dave and Sasha, two of our local gardening experts, on best practices for overwintering your garden.
The workshop will take place at Gleneagles Community Centre Community Garden, one of three Allotment Gardens hosted by the District of West Vancouver.

Tree Giveaway 2022
May – June 2022
GCFS will provide live tree saplings for free to local residents in the Metro Vancouver region. GCFS will deliver the trees and provide guidance on tree care. Our volunteers may also be available to help select a location and plant a tree. With the consent of property owners, GCFS may return to harvest produce from fruit-bearing trees. The produce will then be distributed to local meal centers to serve individuals facing food insecurity.
Communities Served
The trees are available free of charge to local residents, schools, and non-profits in Vancouver and the North Shore. Priority is given to those facing food insecurity, or those living in areas that have faced significant loss of urban forests.

West Vancouver Community Clean Up Day

Maplewood Farm Tour

Our team is planning to visit Maplewood Farm in North Vancouver on Saturday, November 6 (date not yet confirmed) to see urban agriculture in action. If you are interested in joining please send us an email! Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we have limited capacity for this event, so please let us know soon.
Don’t forget to bring some fruits and veggies to feed the bunnies!

Winter Fresh Veggies

Do you have vegetables growing in your garden this fall? In this virtual workshop we will learn how to get the most out of our vegetable gardens over the autumn and winter. We are fortunate to be joined by a team of gardening experts who will guide us through the following:
- Preparing the home vegetable garden for fall and winter
- Caring for plants over the colder months
- Starting seeds indoors in late winter

Ambleside Butterfly Garden Tour

Join us on Sunday, May 16th to explore the beautiful beautiful gardens of Ambleside! We will meet by Crema Cafe (15th & Belleve Avenue) at 4:00p.m., where we will supply coffee and tea. From there we will do a self-guided tour of the Butterfly and Community Gardens in Millenium Park. We hope to see you there!
